- I never have to take another drink again as long as I live....even if I want to.
I have had various periods of sobriety in the past. I am currently approaching the 2 year mark. Why is it different this time? Well, I have good sponsorship, a great support group and home group, I attend meetings almost daily, I pray, I read the big book and the 12 and 12, but most of all this time I am being honest! Honest to those around me and most importantly honest to myself. I used to hold on to the idea that one day I would be able to drink as others. It's not gonna happen. We live one day at a time but I believe there are certain truths that we must project into our future. I never have to take another drink again as long as I live even if I want to.
